UNSAG Renovates Deplorable State of Akuse Prison: The University Nursing Students Association of Ghana, known as UNSAG, is a collective body for all nursing and midwifery students and recent graduates across the nation.
On Friday, 12th April 2024, they refurbished the sick bay at Akuse prisons, which was previously in a deplorable condition.
The team which is lead by H. E. Bolanle A Williams indicated this is one of the many activities of such that the association will be undertaking in the coming months.
“Inmates deserve the best of healthcare services just like any other Ghanaian. It is therefore imperative that cooperate bodies come to the aid of persons whose movement and other activities has been restricted by law”- H.E.Bolanle A Williams stated at the commissioning of the sick bay.
The renovation entailed: fixing of new door, plastering and painting, tiling of the floor ,fixing of a new cabinet and shelves, stocking of medications and many other repairs.
The renovation was proceeded with a health screening, education, treatment and counseling where more than 290 inmates and prison officers were screened for some communicable and non communicable diseases.
